Adult women often live undiagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.(ADHD) Traditionally it is a condition thought to mainly impact males, however females tend to have more covert or less recognizable symptoms. ADHD comes in three types;inattentive, Hyperactive/impulsive and a combination of the two.
Common signs of ADHD in women may include:
- Disorganization of surroundings at work and home
- Easily distracted with noise /people making it difficult to complete tasks
- You put a lot of energy looking as though you have it all together and to present as “normal”
- In the midst of paper piles, unpaid bills, incomplete projects at home, work and/or in car
- Your mind may often drift in conversations or meetings
- Friendships and social situations may seem exhausting
- You are often restless and find it hard to relax
- Money and keeping up with budget/bills may seem overwhelming
- You spend time and money on products to help with organization and productivity however you don’t use them
- Your home tends to be cluttered and/or you use closets and drawers to hide the chaos
- It is often difficult for you to make decisions on purchases and grocery stores feel overwhelming
- You feel a great sense of sadness, failure and lack of motivation
